Need help selecting a MIDI controller

I just got Cubase LE and Sonar LE installed last week, and am trying to figure out what I should get next. I'm thinking something of a small (25 key??) MIDI keyboard. I'm clueless what to get, and I don't want it to break the bank.

My only real necessity is that it has good drum sounds and easy to program.

A MIDI controller isn't going to come with any sounds. By definition it triggers sounds from an external sound module or software, in the the case of Cubase this would be a VST.

I use an M-Audio Oxygen V2 and am quit happy. I use it to play VST's in Cubase Studio 4.

MIDI is not sound, MIDI is data only. You hit a key, pad, turn a knob all they do is sent data to the computer and on to your software. So you DAW or sound module takes the data and creates the sound.

Since you mention drums you might want to look at a MIDI controller that has pad as well as keys. I would say beside looking at the M-Audio Oxygen series check out their Axiom series too they have a better keyboard and pads.

Thanks guys, but the way I have it running right now is I have my Zoom RhythmTrak running a MIDI line in from my PC, and the "analog?" outputs of the Zoom running to the input of my PC so I can record the actual drum machine sounds.

My problem is that I can only get like 2 kick sounds, 2 snare sounds, etc. through MIDI, but this drum machine actually has some "fairly decent if doctored up" drum sounds if I could only access them through my MIDI output of the PC.

Edit: perhaps a midi controller is not actually what I'm looking for, just something more flexible than what I have and I'd like to be able to have some keyboard/synth options

If you are looking for a large compilation of sounds and software to create drum tracks. There are various solutions out there. I have both BFD2 and EZdrummer. I prefer BFD2 because I think it has superior sounds.
