New to Recording

I'm looking into getting a simple recording device, just to test my mettle in recording stuff. I found this on MF, 4 track recorder . Does anyone have any experience with this, or something similar. Thanks for your opinions. I'm not dead set in buying this, if there is something better within a $200 maximum budget, let me know.

I say use that $200 buying recording software for your computer. Plug your stuff into it. No reason in wasting $200 on a 4 track, really.

The 4 track is only $99. Actually they have one of their upside down sales for this, where I can get 10 tapes and the recorder for $79.
