Panning Help.

Sign in to disble this ad
I just recently purchased a Fostex MR16 and it is my first recorder and as a newbie I have some questions. When I'm playing the playback and I try to mess with the panning I can even put it all the way to the left but I still hear the playback in both ears. Im wondering if this is an internal problem or maybe its my $20 Sony Headphones. Or maybe I'm just doing the panning to quickly ..like does the panning come into effect during the mixing process. Help would really be appreciated

Not really familiar with that device, but maybe you're plugging the headphones into the wrong output and not headphone output? Do you hear any difference when you pan? Like is it really loud on one side and barely audible on the other, or is it full volume on both sides?

No my headphones are plugged into the correct output. When the pan knob is set to the center is isnt audible but when moved to either the right or left it gets alot louder and from what I can tell both. On the display screen it shows that it is panning but just not in my headphones

Anyone got a link online to the manual on this? Also have you tried updating the software on it? There are some updates available from fostex, but no manual. Or any info on what the updates do it appears..

Turned out it was my 1/4" adapter on my headphones ..it was broken evidently and I put a new one on and in no time it was fine.
