Patcher, looper - advice please.
So I am cleaning up my home studio and putting all my bass amps (4) into a shelving unit. I would like to run all into a device that would allow me to plug a single input into the device (bass) and then push one of four switches to select an amp and hear the amp via an output to a headphone amp or recording input.
My bass amps all have headphone outs that would provide the return signal at line level. I was thinking a multi-channel loop switcher would work but is it restricted to instrument level vs line level?
A patch bay would work but requires moving the inputs verses just pushing an on/ off switch.
Any insight is appreciated.
Use a small mixer and use the "Solo" buttons
Yeah, that makes sense too. I have a small mixer so I'll save some money and try that.
Except that amps need instrument level hi impedance (tiny signal from instrument pickups) and a mixers output is hotter line level and low impedance.
So it will alter tone and overdrive the inputs of the amps.
Oh yeah, that.
I'm thinking a Hosa mini patchbay will work with normal/de-normal ability.
Intrument-level in, line-level return.
