Sign in to disble this ad
hi,

i have an mbox 2 and i'd like to add faders and buttons so that i could use it more than a mouse. Would i have to get the command 8 or 003 or are there non-digidesign hardware options out there? im looking for something on the cheap too. like under $500

You can use a Presonus Faderport, Frontier Alphatrack, etc...

Tascam US-428 gives you tactile controls as well, see them on CL a lot for a few hundred.

I haven't personally used the Faderport, but, I've worked in a handful of studios were it was in use with ProTools. Seemed to work fine...

I picked up a used command 8 and it's nice. Many like the Mackie control just realize anything non-Digi you will probably have to map some of the controls yourself. If you don't have a MIDI controller check out the new M-Audio Axiom Pro controller. PT 8 comes with support for it so a lot of the controls are pre-configured and suppose to be real easy to map the others.

I just picked up an Axiom Pro, and it functions exactly as advertised. Everything automaps and it is easy to edit. Great piece of gear!
