Reamp experience anyone ?

i'm thinking about adding a reamping setup into my studio. Anyone have any advice ?

Seems like the Little Labs, Radial X-amp or the Reamp v2 are the popular boxes.

Mostly this will be for guitar but maybe a little bass.

I have a bitchin' new bass recording setup. 1970 Fender Princeton Reverb driving a JBL 1x15 in a small box. Still playing with mic's for it. I have an RE-20 lined up that I expect will be the eventual winner ...

I thought I'd left mic'ing behind for good. Apparently I was mistaken ...

for mics, since its such a low wattage amp I would try some LDC's, would help to capture the air

the only mic that i like as much or better for bass is the Neuman U87... duhhh.. but the RE20 is by far my favorite of all time and its durable for Live gigs too. Good Choice you made there!

i've been using original REAMP V2 with very good results (guitar, bass whatever).
Don't know nothing about the REAMP made now by RADIAL. Looks like a serious company.

I use a Little Labs Redeye and like it quite a bit. I haven't stacked it up against other models, but it's sturdy and works well and I find the adjustable output gain, ground lift and polarity switch useful.

I have the Reamp v2 and like it a lot. It's a fantastic thing for home recording or recording on a budget, in that you can record guitars direct and worry about tone shaping after the fact. In my experience, one of the things that sucks the wind out of a tracking session is getting too focused on dialing in the magic tone. Reamping allows you to worry about all that during the overdubbing process when red light syndrome is no longer in effect.

Have using the Reamp v2 on several accasions on bass and guitar with great results.
Recently used the radial and also liked it very much.

For mics I like the 421, RE20, U87, TLM 103. But had nice results with SM75 too!

RE20's are great. If you can get your hands on a Fet47 then thats the nirvana of bass amp mic IMO, and they are killer for loads of other things as well. Likewise 421s are good (very smooth) and any good LDC will do a good job! Maybe with an sdc for the horn, Steve Albini style...
