Question recording acoustic gutiar

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

I was wondering anyone on this board owns a Line6 Pod X3 and how they record acoustic guitar. I sold my Presonus Firebox to buy the Pod X3 and didn't realize the X3 doesn't have phantom power for my condenser mic. I have a dynamic mic (sm57) but I thought is sounded a little harsh. I am think of getting a LR Baggs or Fishman pickup. I am also thinking of getting a Presonus Tubepre as well.

But before I do that, I'm hoping to get some response to this post.

Thank you all for your help!

I use a Neumann TLM103 for ambient sound and 2 AKG C1000S pencil condensers: 1 is pointed at the sound hole and one is pointed at the fretboard to pick up my fingers.

Both of the AKG mics have the hypercardoid and low cut filters that come with the mics installed.

Pointing mics and staying in the zone just isn't convenient at times.

Something I'd check into for piezo pickups is the Fishman Aura line

Online sample recordings - sounds really good.
