Recording from Amp to PC? LightSnake USB?

Edit: My amp has a DI output, would this cable do good for me? Its a soundcard as a cable.

Is there any way to record from the amp to the pc, via DI or soundcard?

I was searching for some time and didn't find awnsers to this. I dont really like the idea of pluging my bass into a DI, I have a great amplifier and I want to record from it, and I dont have good conditions for recording with a mic.
Is there any DI which can handle 400 Watts?

Thanks for helping out.
It might be a stupid question, sorry if it is.

Depend on the amp. My amp has both DI output and effect loop, the effect send should be line level so would work directly connected to an audio card in. What amp do you have?

and just to clarify, the amp DI is usually pre-EQ, while the send would be post EQ (this is a generality, of course).

This amp has DI with pre/post switch, why don't you want to use that?

You don't need a DI, there is one on the amp already. All you need is the cable to connect the amp DI output to your audio card in.

The internal soundcard of most laptop is definitely not very good, usually very high noise. Better to get an external audio interface, either firewire or USB. Look for product by M-Audio, Line 6, Edirol, Presonus, Alesis, focusrite, MOTU, RME etc for suitable recording interface.

The Countryman 85 will take speaker out if switched to Speaker mode.. So will the avalon U5// But you should be able to go DI out of your amp into your sound card with th erigh adapters .. The best bet is to have some sort of Digital interface. there are many on the market in a wide price range.. Presonus makes one as does M Audio, Edirol, Apogee.. all Firewire or USB2... if you use one of those digital interfaces you can go Mic line DI out into the input Mic in on the digital interface depending on which one you decide to get if any at all.

I bought the Line6 Toneport GX for $69.99 at Guitar Center. Pretty cool. I record through audacity. But that's not usin' your own amp so probably no help.

Best portable recording interface suitable for laptops for the money is the Tascam 144 USB. Period.
