Recording from amps Tuner Out

Sign in to disble this ad
I found this cable in a box of equipment junk at my house that is a 1/4" jack on one end, and a 1/8" jack on the other. I don't really have much recording gear at all, so I thought I'd try using this to plug my amp into the Line In on my Macbook.

My amp is a Little Mark II. I plugged the cable from the Tuner Out into the computers Line In, started playing and it was recording! But is there any chance of hurting my amp/cab by doing this? Probably an obvious answer, just wanted to make sure before I keep using it like that.

No, no chance of damage at all.

Be aware that some tuner outs have a deliberately attenuated upper frequency range, in order to allow tuners to lock onto a note easier.

It will work. I have an LMII also and I'm pretty sure that the tuner out does not have any EQ added to it, but you can add eq in your MAC application (i.e Garageband).

Yeah I was EQing it through Garageband. I'm happy with how it sounds, I'm not recording an album or anything, just personal projects etc, so this works great.
