Recording audio interface up to 500$

Hey guys
I'm looking to record bass vocals and guitar (No need for a few channels simultaneously)
I need a FireWire interface with headphones out jack.

The most important thing is no lags and good bass sound that won't clip in low volumes (My bass got strong output + I play loud)

Thank you in advance
Danny

Well, all modern soundcards (firewire or USB) will operate with no lags if set up correctly. The converters will not have too much of an impact on the bass sound, until you get to a fair bit above your budget and even then it will be a SLIGHT increase in clarity, thats all, so I wouldn't worry about it! And lastly, clipping only ever happens at 0dbfs, if you are hitting that you just need to turn down the preamp/line input you are going into. Even a loud bass played loudly should be no-where near the top range of most mic pres and certainly not a line amp!

If it IS however, get an inline pad ($10), a DI with a pad (you'll probably need a di anyway) or use a preamp with a pad on it (many do!).

So, basically, pretty much every interface in your budget covers your requirements so the best thing to do is to look at the features you need and just use that to decide, plus trying to research any known problems of particular units!

Good to know
Well basically I don't really want to use all the budget but I would pay more for something that is worth it.

Anyhow, I've seen the PreSonus FireStudio Mobile though I wasn't really impressed...
I would only like FireWire as I mentioned again and something that won't cause any problems on Windows 7.

Thanks in advance

Oh and by the way, If I'll record maybe I'll pull a Lineout out of my MarkBass to the audio card and into the computer
Or maybe I'll have a VT Bass Deluxe and I'll use it as a preamp DI before the Audio interface.

OK, my budget is lower but I can go up to 400 bucks
I was thinking about the TC Electronic Konnekt 6, I don't need too much inputs etc but I want an interface with a good quality sound, I'm currently thinking between the
TC Electronic Konnekt 6
PreSonus FireStudio Mobile
TC Electronic Twin Impact

The concern is if I'll need a very good sound card like the PreSonus or the Twin Impact and are they good long run options or I can be fine with the Konnekt 6

Thanks in advance
