Sign in to disble this ad
so i'm looking to leave my band and we probably won't be able to finish the album that we are trying to finish anyways because the drummer is moving in two weeks so i want to record on my laptop but i have NO idea how to do so, although i know it cam be done, i'd like to be able to record my bass nice and clearly as well as program drum beats into the recording

so... starting from scratch what do i need to buy/do to accomplish this goal?

Does your amp have a line-out or do you have a DI box?

use a USB interface and one of the solid, modest cost DAW's.
One decent way to go is to use the GuitarRig Mobile package. It comes with a Native Instruments (NI) 1in/1out USB audio interface and the software bundle has a decent multitrack recording package with a tape deck style interface included. I think the price is $99 at all the usual online suppliers.

If you need more simultaneous Ins/Outs, you will need to move up a bit on the interface side. but not too far. There are 4in/2out interfaces by M-Audio (for example) that are very affordable.

Do some research here and elsewhere, there is a ton of gear/software out these days that will equip you to do very decent recordings for not too much $$.

good luck
