Smile Recording directly to pc (Newb)

Hi everyone

I've recently started to film/record myself playing bass covers.
I've been using my ps3 camera plugged into my pc for video and its built in speaker for audio. The quality is obviously not very good on either count. But i carried on and i have uploaded them to youtube.
Basically i would like some advise on what i should use program and hardware wise to make my recordings better, the audio is more of an issue than the video at this point.

My tech info is the following:
Ridgewood BC 330 Passive Bass
American Fender Jazz Passive Bass
Ashdown EB 12-180 EVO II Combo
BOSS ME-20B effects pedal
Computer:
ASUS M3A Motherboard with 5 jacks and a digital audio port

Any help would be muchly appreciated
Cheers for your time

Budget for requested software and hardware?
Note: software brand does not necessarily improve quality.

For your budget I would suggest getting on of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Line-6-POD-S...4719659&sr=1-1
It's a bit over your budget, but you get a decent interface, amp modeling software and Ableton Live lite (recording/Mixing Software). A package decent enough to start recording.

One more quick question, just checked some youtube vids of that gx you just linked. Can i plug my bass amp into it, i noticed there is a socket for headphones so could i plug a jack lead into that and run it to the input on my bass amp?
