Recording drums with Mbox and BR8

So my band is thinking we should bring some demo's on our tour next week and are thinking about trying to come up with a demo on the quick and cheap. The first song they had done was on an old boss BR8 which has just 2 inputs. also at our disposal is an mbox which we could either run with Logic or Sonar. They had multi mic'd the drum kit into another board and mixed it and sent the board out to the BR8.

What I'm proposing is using both the mbox and BR8 simultaneously. Usign the recorderman drum micing technique and sending those 2 mics directly to the mbox/computer and using the BR8 to take mics from the kick and snare. Then I can just dump the kick and snare files from the BR8 into the computer and be able to mix them easier.

It made sense to me, but the other guys didn't seem so keen on it. I also lived with 3 audio engineers and they don't have as much experience recording. Any thoughts or suggestions?
