recording/eq gurus needed ASAP!!

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm working on a recording and I'm looking to submit it by midnight tonight, and I'm trying to get a very raunchy rock/punk sound. I'm trying to get the feel of players like Mike Dirnt, the guy from Bayside just a lot of raunchy high end but with still a really full sound. I'm using logic so if you can reccomend any links for preamp settings, eq boosts anything that would help me get that sound I would be forever greatful (and i promise i'll post a link afterwards!)

You shouldn't need anything but a good bass tone and a decent mic (or line out to the board) to do what you're looking for. The sound comes from the instrument first, not a whole lot of post processing is going to get that tone you're looking for.

The EQ would be different for every bass and every amp configuration. A lot of gain and or some light tube saturation will get you half way there.

I forget the name of the tube plugin I use, I think it's an Antares, but it certainly wasn't free.

New strings would do a lot for you for that tone.

Try a touch of crunchy distortion.
