Recording with GK700RB

Hey all,

I'm trying to record my bass to my PC I'm a complete novice with recording and anything technical so be gentle!

I'm trying to use the Direct Out on the front of my GK700RB II; I have the cable to plug into the head and the 1/8-1/4 converter on the other end to plug into my PC.

I should advise I am using a Schecter Studio 6 string with active EMG's - prety hot out-put! I have Audacity installed on my PC and the operating system is Windows XP.

Any help with setting the amp up & setting the PC up to receive the signal would be greatly appreciated!

You need an interface with a mic input on it then use a mic cable from the bass amp DI.

Or the bass plugged direct into an interface that has an instrument input.

For cheap thrills you could use the line-in / mic-in on your pc's sound card if it has one, and it probably does. So I'd check that first. It's likely to be a 1/8" input.

Hi guys - I played around the set up and got it working. Ran it from my head with the Direct Out cable into the Line In on my PC with the 1/8 converter.

CASE CLOSED!
