Recording with the Korg Pandora Mini - Help!

Sign in to disble this ad
I've got one of the new korg pandora minis, which I absolutely love, but I made the mistake of assuming the USB port could be used for audio transfer to my computer.
This is not the case.
The USB port is only used for editing the patches on the pandora through some software you can download from korg, as opposed to using the buttons on the pandora to manually edit them.

Anyway...

How could I go about recording the 1/4" output of the pandora mini on my computer?
I've tried using a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter then sending the 1/8" into my computer's sound card but the signal is very weak.
I also bought one of those cheap Behringer UCA202 usb audio interfaces and used a 1/4" to RCA cable to connect the output from the pandora into the RCA inputs on the behringer, but i'm not having any luck with that.
I tried using the 1/4" to RCA to connect my bass directly to the behringer to see if the behringer was working and it indeed works, although the signal is so strong that it clips like crazy and it sounds like i'm using a fuzz pedal.

So what else could I try?

Thanks for any help, i'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this kind of thing.

Return it and get a pandora PX5D.

The PX5 would cost about $300 though, there must be something I could do to record the little $99 pandora mini.

It's all about gain matching. Try turning the mini down and connecting to the mic input on your coimputer rather than the line-in. Or try a different input on the interface. Just keep trying all the options, you should be able to get a decent recording from the mini with the gear you have. You're doing something a bit weird at present as it doesn't sound right that the signal straight from the bass is stronger than the signal from the mini. Double check the integrity of all connections and leads.

I just tried it again and it seems the pandora mini plugged into the behringer interface works beautifully when the 1/4" to RCA cable is not fully inserted (so it clicks into place) into the pandora mini.
Could that be a problem with the 1/4" to RCA cable? It worked fine when my bass was directly connected to the behringer interface with the same cable...

Thanks for the help

Sounds like there may be an issue with the actual 1/4" socket built into the mini.

If you have any more problems you could get one of this
BEHRINGER: UCG102

they work very well and only cost around $30 bucks.
