Usually I record in stages starting with the rhythm section, so I don't have to deal with with bleed issues. I haven't had a drummer/singer before, but if I were recording one I'd track the drums and vocals separately.

RE:separate tracks

We have done that also. I was just wondering how to set it up if you do a live recording of a gig.
Thanks,
Steve

use a supercardoroid pattern mic.
it's a more direct reception pattern with less bleed from the rear and sides of the mic.
also make sure it's a dynamic and not a condensor type of mic.
using a condenser (a much more sensitive mic)will bring you alot of bleed.

just did a live recording of a keyboardist who also sang w/ a head worn cardiod mic. was pretty good (and fairly cheap). check out the gearslutz.com remote recording forum... probably TONS of stuff on this
