You're only DI'ing your bass tracks?

For this one, yes. I'm getting exactly what I need from a single DI.

Final guitar tracks - Solo, Fills, and Crunchy Rhythm

Fender Strat -> Boss Super Overdrive -> Fender Blues Jr.
Mic 1: Shure SM 57 (1" off grill, about halfway between edge of cone and dustcap) -> Ramsa mixer pre -> Interface
Mic 2: Cascade Fathead (6" off grill, centered on speaker) -> FMR RNP -> Interface

I set this up to give myself a couple of fairly different options to work with at mix time, rather than being summed together (which sounds like crap due to phase issues). The pic posed at the end of Page 1 was intended for possibly combining the signals of the mics, and they were set so the capsules were both the same distance from the speaker cone, and therefore in phase. However, there were other issues with the tracks from that day that had us take another run at it.

In this setup, both sounds are good and very usable. The Fathead backed off the grill gave me a very good representation of the entire speaker. Being a figure-8 pattern, the Fathead signal also includes a lot of roomyness that sounds really nice. The SM57's sound is very focused, intense, and dry. Either one have their place, but as I've been molesting the mix along the way, the Fathead seems to be a better fit.

At long last, final vox have been recorded....

Our singer was battling a bit of a sore throat, but once he got warmed up and we pushed him hard, the extra raspyness of his voice worked well. He was coming up flat on a few notes, and we had to take a few sections one line at a time, but we finally got the right pieces to comp together a decent vocal track.

Signal chain: Shure SM7 -> UA LA610 - Interface

I placed some movable acoustic panels behind the singer and behind the mic, and it worked pretty well to reduce some of the room reflections in the signal.

I will hopefully have a final mix to post soon.

What I thought was ready for final mixing, apparently isn't. Our singer has decided that he doesn't like some of his vox and wants to re-record a few parts. I don't completely disagree with him. He's not the most amazing singer ever, but I thought we had gotten the best we could from him. Maybe we can improve it. Maybe not.

In the meantime, knowing that his vox won't change drastically, and his voice is still his voice, I can proceed with tweaking the rest of the instruments and getting the mix one step closer to done.
