recording problem (n-track, onboard pc soundcard)

I know im not using the best equipment, but i just need to lay down a simple recording. However when i come to record in ntrack, it plays back all the other tracks(which i want), but the track that is being recorded records the sound coming out of my speakers. So track 4 would contain all of tracks 1,2 and 3. Im recording through the line-in on my soundcard.
Thanks in advance

I don't know n-Track, but have you looked in Control Panel>Soundcard in your PC? Sounds like you're inputting (recording) your Monitor or Main Output from somewhere inside your signal path there. Just a thought.
