Recording rehearsals

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi
I've been using outdated technology from the dark ages. a cassette recorder and a Ibanez rock n play to record rehearsals and then plug my 1979 Music Man in and learn new material. What can i use to upgrade but not spend a major chunk of change? is there anything i can record with and plug my bass into and play along with?
Thanks
tom

I also live in the dark ages.

I used to record band practice with cassette tapes...problem was, having to review the tape and transfer 3 hour practices, onto the computer....in total, it was 6 hours of work for a band rehearsal day, and I couldn't take it anymore.

Try an M-Audio Jam lab. Dirt cheap, and works great. It even takes stereo input, albeit, it converts it to mono.

I bought a Yamaha USB mixer, which I just plug straight into my laptop using Audacity and record using a couple of overhead mics.

Do you have a laptop or a computer in your rehearsal space? If so, a good microphone and some basic audio software and you're good to go!

I use a Microphone Preamp by Church Audio and a pair of tiny stealth mics into my laptop to record ours and it sounds fantastic!

I love my zoom h2. best $200 i have spent all year. Check out the threads on it in this sub forum.

I don't know about plugging in and playing along with it. Maybe an adapter to the line in will work during playback....

It all starts with a computer in this day and age.

How's that situation? Lap-top or desktop?
