Smile recording & sequencing: good, user-friendly recording rig for a novice ?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've had a few porta- studios, I had a br1200cd ,a decent all inclusive digital studio, I'm looking to get something to create electronic music,beats..reggae/trip hop etc
I'd like to create some tracks using samples etc
and also overdub vocals etc

should I get something like Reason, propellerhead etc
or would protools plus a good sound library do it ?
again, I'm inexperienced with all computer based recording,
so I want something that won't overwhelm me w too many features
advice on a basic starter setup ?

also, what about sounds ?
do these include decent libraries of drum sounds etc
I'll want a basic library of modern sounds to mess with, to learn with, at least.
advice ?

I've got 2 pc's
my mac is old, so better off using pc.
thanx

I'll clarify, my project is a bit different..
I'm not overdubbing vocals really,

it's like instrumental stuff with samples from tv, films, online
so I never actually "record"

I will take sound clips & import them,
so Im able to concentrate on the sequencing
but
it might be best to include recording software,

2 things Im researching:

I saw a reason/record duo
advertised...seemed cool.

also saw the maschine by native products
looked interesting, are these ok?

Working with samples?

Ableton Live. End of story. Not really, but, it is a fantastic program! Check it out.

now I'm looking into Acid,
it seems to cover all bases,
the sequencing/beatmaking software, recording and a huge library of samples, loops to get me started..
I need to really study up on these applications, there is soooo much out there. it's ridiculous.
