Crate BX-15? That is the exact model I use when I want a transparant (solid state) sound.

Use the external speaker jack instead of the headphone out though and record from one channel only - the BX-15 is a VERY noisy amp, especially at low volumes and through the headphone jack.

Run that either straight into the LINE IN on the soundcard with the amp's volume between 10 and 12 o'clock, or through your favorite FX box.

The BX-15 is also a good little miking amp

You do NOT want to run a powered signal into the line in portion of your sound card! You want a line level output from your amp, is there an FX loop on that thing?
