So i have just got myself a good laptop and i am now looking for a cheap USB interface that will let me record bits of bass into garageband and logic express.

all i need is one maybe two inputs and a USB out. preferably sub £100 ($160ish).

any help much appreciated

Sounds like you have a Mac.. i think your better off saving abit more and buying a firewire interface!

I've never used one but people tell me the Presonus Fire Studio is a nice interface. You're limited to using hardware that does all the processing externally since you can't add a PCI card to a laptop...

...As far as I know... I'm sure someone here will correct me.

the Fire Studio does look nice but it is total overkill for what i need. i have a few nice DI pedals that i can use as a preamp it is just a way to get the signal into the computer i am after.

also is there a noticeable advantage to having firewire over USB?
