replacement for cowbell

Sign in to disble this ad
Long story short. My middle son has some penchant for music and plays bass and piano / keyboard. I have helped him record some simple rock songs such as You Really Got Me, Human Fly (The Cramps), and Wild Thing. I use a computer bassed drum kit for the drums. I am currently working with him on a song he wrote himself (I am helping put music to his lyrics). At any rate I have to make a drum line. The bass hits on the bass and snare and hats are somwhat syncopated, but I want a steady 1-2-3-4 beat. The cowbell is being used atm but sound so Van Halen. Any other suggestion for precussion to take the place of the cowbell?

Two cowbells?

Or what about a wood block?

Can you edit the cowbell samples (maybe change the pitch or add FX) that the drum machine is triggering? Or maybe replace them with other WAVs (try Latin percussion instruments)?

Or try More Cowbell Than You Could Ever Handle...

If all else fails call in the services of world-famous producer Bruce Dickinson.
