...I run my line in from my bass pod to the computer - but my gain is very low. Can anybody give me a tip or two what to look oat? This is the same through all my basses.

check the audio settings on the pc for the soundcard, you should be able to adjust the recording level. Go through control panel/audio.

You probably have a different record out level and a headphone monitor level on the POD so make sure those are both up as well. If you have a standard soundcard for your pc you will be pretty limited in the control you have over input.

You can also boost input levels in Sonar in the gain section can't you?

oops...

I should have mentioned that I'm using the USB route from my Bass Pod XT Live to my computer.

I'm not familiar with the pod setup, but if it's hooked up via USB, it probably has a control panel somewhere to change its input volume. When I record into a computer, the setup I use has a nice Edirol USB card. Apparently the thing had sounded awful when my group first started to use it, but it was because the driver was shoddy. If that's not the problem, then you'll just have to boost the gain using Sonar.

I'm using a Zoom B2.1u, it shows up in the Audio control panel as a USB sound device, I'd imagine yours does as well and there are probably some settings somewhere to boost the input.
