Solo bass record.

Alot has been going on around here lately. Alot of joyous occasions and reasons to celebrate, but I've been too busy to keep up with my projects. Me and Mrs NickyBass are expecting our son in September, and, as such, I haven't been making any plans or taking any gigs until after we are all set up and settled down.

I recently quit my current band. It was time. I wasn't happy with alot of the things that were happening, and since I won't be able to 'blow-up' with them when the record companies come beating down their door after the baby comes, I decided that there was no better time to leave than now. I gave them plenty of notice and fulfilled all the obligations, and now, I am without a project.

I started thinking about making a solo bass record along the lines of Matthew Garrison, David Dyson and the like. Obviously not as good, but along those lines. I'm not looking to have it produced or pressed, but it would be something that would be all mine-and I like that idea. I have access to a 16 track recorder, a Korg Triton a few mics and decent preamps. Has anyone successfully made a solo CD? Just you and a keyboard?

I did a CD in 2005 and also in 2006, not earth shaking but I was happy with the results and some folks seem to like it. I mainly used a Tascam DP-01 FX and all the other gear and basses i have collected over the years.
Right now I am working on polishing my compositions and arrangements of the more successful tunes and am planning on getting some other musicians involved to be finished by the end of the year.

Cool. I have a few ideas. I've been thinking about it for a long time, but it never really got out of the planning stages.
