I hope this is the right forum.
I havent really invested any money into getting an actual setup for my computer so I can record some playing. All I'm going is plugging my bass into my effects processor and then into my line in on my sound card.
The problem is, when I play back the recording, the sound "studders". Its like a record skipping. I've updated all of the drivers and it still does it.
What could be causing this and how can I fix it?
I'm willing to put in some money if I should get a new sound card but I dont want to spend alot. This is simply to get some ideas onto the computer. Not to do professional recordings. |

The problem is, it didn't use to do this about a year ago.. Now, it does.. Only difference is I've reinstalled WinXP since then but have made sure all of the drivers are current. |

If you can it's best to a separate drive for recording data.
Also tune XP for music: http://www.musicxp.net/tuning_tips.php

Which soundcard do you use?

How many tracks are you playing back.

You can adjust the buffer sizes (latency) in SoundForge, just make the playback buffer larger.

Its just the onboard sound card in my mother board.. Maybe it just sucks.. |
