Tone Ports

Line 6 Tone Ports to be discontinued?

Everyone seems to be blowing them out on clearance and stating limited quantities....

Guitar Center and Musicians Friend already have them listed in the outlet stores....

what gives?

anybody in the know?

they have made a new series of what is essentially the same thing (same model numbers like UX1, UX2 etc.) but i forget what the new series is called.
The key difference seems to be that work with a software called 'Amp Farm' as apposed to 'Gearbox'.

line6 is a company that pretty much discontinues everything after 6 months to make way for something "with more of the tones from your favorite records!" that in the end contains the same technical limitations and accommodations for hobbyists.
one can try and make the best of mediocrity

just bought the new one and it has new software. The salesman at my local GC is a UX1 user and told me that the software has changed. Gear Box has been replaced by Pod Farm. Looking forward to plugging it in this evening.

POD Farm is the software replacing Gearbox and POD Studio is the name that replaces Tone Port.
Oh, and black color replaces red.
That's about it.
Tone Port users get Pod farm software for free as far as i know.
cheers

I have the toneport gx,x biggest piece of trash. No matter how you set it up, how you update it, it has issues like clipping and no recording

Really? I have it, I got it for free and if you registered your Toneport you could have gotten it for free.

Go to downloads, pick the toneport model you have from the list and select POD Farm from the Software list.

Make sure you are logged into the L6 website as well.

The podfarm settings. It is constantly picking up noise, even when the string isnt strummed.

I get some noise depending on whether or not I am using high gain or not.
I also use a noise gate, I haven't had much trouble with it.

Regarding the settings in the hardware and settings menu, that is dependent upon how fast your computer is. I would mess around with the settings a little but I would keep it to a minimum as you can get more noise and latency easily.

I installed the Monkey software and used it find the latest drivers. also downloaded the latest PodFarm. I usually do not install software from a CD until I find if it is the latest version. Going to the site is my first step.
