vst playback problem pitch bending??

Sign in to disble this ad
ok, so i have this brand new quad core with 2 gigs of ram and i'm running cubase le and sonar le that came with my e mu 0404. i have a ton of old midi files that i practice with. when i load one them into cubase le i've noticed that when i play back with more than a few tracks enabled the piano sound pitch bends... it's extremely annoying since i play upright bass and i'm practicing intonation along with chords and a drum beat. on some of these files i have as many as 20 different midi tracks, not all playing at the same time. i keep alot of them muted (different exercises) and only turn them on when i want to use them. what i've noticed is that when i enable the tracks that i'm not using, but turn the fader down (signal indicatior on track is showing signal, but no volume) the piano chords are all out of tune, but if i mute all the tracks that i'm not using (no signal coming from the indicator) the piano is less distorted, but at any given time there isnt more than 10 or so tracks enabled at one time. this should not be a problem with the kind of computer i have, no? what's going on? (it does it with the e mu vst and with the universal sound module that comes with cubase. )

No you shouldn't. It sounds like your midi info is screwy somewhere. It's possible that the MIDI CC info got mapped incorrectly in Cubase. Can you post an example of a file that plays back funny?

thanks for the the offer to help! this is driving me nuts. i'll try to post an example, but where would i upload it to? i can e mail it to someone i guess. anyway, i doubt its the midi info because i look at the event list and the only thing is there are notes, no controllers or anything. it only happens when there are alot of tracks playing and it gets worse the more tracks play... is it possible that the quad core could actually be slowing things down?

I did read about people having some problems with Cubase and quad cores, but I don't know exactly what problems it causes. Maybe try checking the "Use System Time Stamp" option in Device Setup and see if that makes a difference?

Cubase.net forums or gearslutz would probably be a good place to look for more info.

thanks, i'll check, but i get the feeling that it was the emu sounds causing it rather than cubase because it does the same thing with sonar le....
