you'll need an interface of some kind (Fast Track Pro, Firestudio, Firepod etc..) and it doesn't have to have xlr outputs, you could always go 1/4" to xlr

so if i got the fast track pro does that just hook up to my computer and then the sound is transfered to the speakers via USB?

Well, all you'd really need would be an 1/8" stereo jack to 2 1/4" mono jack adapter.

Basically something like this.

M-Audio has some good hook up maps on their site.

Basically

Computer ---> Firewire/USB ---> Device --->Speakers

the device, whatever it is, is what you will hook your speakers up too.

Take a look at the map on the right side of the page. I am just using the Fast Track as an example. Personally I like mine.
