| | | | What interfaces work with Logic?

I am considering switching to Logic (currently using Cubase) when I get my mac. What interfaces work with Logic? Is there anything good in the $500 range? I am currently using a Firestudio Project, but I can't seem to find anything that says if this thing will work with Logic. I've looked at the Apogee Duet, but something about that thing makes me weary. Any help is appreciated! |

The beauty of it is that Logic doesn't talk directly with the interface -- it interfaces with Mac's built in audio sub-system -- CoreAudio. The manufacturer's drivers don't have to know anything about Logic -- they just have to work against CoreAudio.
All you'll really have to do is download the Mac drivers for the FireStudio. If you'd like to change -- the Motu Ultralight, Apogee Duet, and probably a dozen others will all work and fit your price range. |

If you don't need anymore that 2 inputs at a time, the Duet will not disappoint. I've had ZERO issues software or hardware wise with mine for over a year. |

I run my basses directly into the Duet. The pre's in there are clean and have a ton of gain.
If you have a pre/amp that you love the sound of, run a line from there. |

I was looking at the Mbox for ProTools compatibility, the Motu Ultralite, but as I like to research a lot, I keep coming back to the Apogee Duet. The reviews and features are exactly what I'm looking for. I'd have to run Logic and no PT or Performer compatibility, but I think soundwise it'll be the best move for recording my bass tracks.
Does anyone think going bass > REDDI > Duet would be a high-quality professional way to record my bass tracks for my bands upcoming album??
Thanks in advance |

i really cant say much for leopard, as i have yet to use it. i dont trust it yet.

Thanks in advance | Unless the REDDI does "something" for your sound, I'd just go straight into the Duet. The pre/converters in it are awesome, and very transparent to my ears. |

Thanks! |

I've done a lot of research and have spoke with a couple of people who have Logic and they say that Apogee is the way to go. Logic has been known to be buggy with a LOT of interfaces so if it were me I would get the Apogee Duet.

| | | | The Duet is excellent. No need for an external DI as you can set the input(s) to instrument level, unless you have a DI you love in which case you can use it and set the input to line level.

I love it. It just sounds great.
When I first bought it I started wondering why on earth have I ever owned m-audio interfaces earlier.
Nothing wrong with M-Audio, but I think the Duet is in a league of it's own.
Just my two cents.
