Whirlwind IMP 2 Standard Direct Box for recording?

I have been using the effects send of my Fender Bassman 150 for recording songs, and I was wondering if the Whirlwind IMP 2 Standard Direct Box would be a better option, or would I end up with the same tone. The problems I was having were I was getting noise and and unmusical distortion on low notes.

The Whirlwind actually isn't bad for a $50 DI. A bit on the noisy side, but puts out a decent clean tone. Give it a try if you have one, but if you don't, I think you'd be better off putting another hundy together and getting a Countryman or a Radial.

Thanks! Would I use this to connect the DI to the mixer - http://www.guitarcenter.com/Monster-...08-i1128553.gc - or any other XLR M to XLR F microphone cable?

Any mic cable is fine. No need for expensive cables.

Is that Monster Cable considered expensive? I was going to buy my cable from lava.
