When it comes to recording, and recording equipment, I dont know a single thing, but Talkbass has helped me with plenty of this kind of stuff before so I figured here would be a great place to ask.
Im looking to record bass, acoustic guitar and maybe vocals. Can anyone recommend any DIs, mics and recording interfaces or mixers?
Im sorry if this is too broad of a question, but I am not really sure what to ask. If someone could tell me what to specify I would be more than happy to do so.
Thanks,
Sam. |

I got some pretty good quality from it, if you want to hear a sample with no eq or anything, then go to my music page and listen to "a patient satisfaction"

I've been playing for 20 years, and I 've recorded sessions where the engineer used Protools, but I've never ran the boards and have no clue where to start. I think that one thing the OP and I are asking is "what's the simplest way to get bass, vocals, guitar, (and in my case a drum machine) onto some formatted medium where we can play it back and hear it for ourselves." Indeed it is a broad question, but the starting point is what I believe we're after.

Now that I've figured out (and I'm about the most computer blunted person alive) how to download the recordings to my computer, its simple to burn a CD anytime for anyone you want to give one to... Pretty cool,huh...Peace...DAcat

| | The older I get, the better I was. | | Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Pasadena, CA | | I got started with a Lexicon USB interface (includes Cubase LE recording/sequencing software) and got some decent results to get my feet wet. If you have a firewire connection on your computer, I recommend using a firewire interface becuase it can handle more data than a USB 2.0 connection. There are so many options for any budget, it's hard to recommend something specific. Do your research and make an informed choice based on your needs.
For anyone getting started, I highly recommend reading the "Guide" at www.tweakheadz.com. |
