xlr balanced direct out from GK Backline 115 to macbook - garageband

Hi all, does anyone have experience with taking xlr (balanced direct out) from GK Backline 115 to macbook (garageband) via a usb? The port is purpose built for a mixing console, so chances are it is safe but I am unsure. Thanks in advance.

MacBook in = stereo unbalanced
Amp DI XLR= mono balanced

It won't work with a XLR to mini TRS.

Best option is get a USB interface.
