Just picked one of these up brandy new for $146.00 flat. What a great deal. Having hardly touched the manual this thing is so easy to use and really great. The quality is very impressive for it being so cheap. Anyways, The few things that throw me off is where to place this mother when im recording myself playing guitar or bass. I tried a few different spots and each seems good for some stuff, bad for others. Farther away makes my highs nice (on guitar) but makes the low notes a little muddy. Too close makes the highs harsh and lows good. I have been messing with the built in comps and AGC and Limiter and such. Not sure really which is best to use in which situation. Also, i dont know what setting for the mics is best to use.

Suggestions are welcome to get better quality out of this thing.

The room variables are so broad that there won't be a single solution out there, you just have to experminet.

I haven't toyed with the AGC/limiter so I can't comment on that.

You might try farther away but use the low cut option to kill the boomieness.

the only mic settings are front pair, back pair, or both (quad). the only difference is the angle of the paired mics: front is 90 degrees, back is 120 degrees. so where you point it makes a difference! Quad will give you 4 tracks to choose from so you cna mix and match to get teh best sound (I'd use a PC and software for that, the h2 interface is kinda lame for that)

I'd recommend reading thru the manual at least once. It gives suggestions for specific recording situations.
