"Art of the Left Hand" update

Hi all,

I've been a big fan of the Art of the Bow DVD, and checked in with Prof. Hans Sturm today to get an update on the progress being made on the upcoming "Art of the Left Hand" DVD...here is the email he sent back to me:

Hi Paul,
Thanks for writing. This DVD has been and is going to continue to be
a long process. We went through a year of various strategies to get
the biomechanics data into the high end animation software,
SoftImage. Ultimately we were not successful with the first set of
trials, so we brought François back again a little more than a month
ago and did a new set of trials. The Biomechanics team began working
on "cleaning" this trials to the point where the SoftImage program
will accept them and on the basis of how much time it took to
complete a single trial they now estimate that it will take 800 hours
just to prep the data. This will of course require a great deal of
expertise, time and money - just this week I learned that I have
been approved for enough funding to complete this end of the process.
This is huge for the project since it means that we will actually
have the funding to complete it. But it will take some months before
the biomechanics guys are done and then I have to work with the
animation team before putting the final animations into the timeline.
The short of this is that I have no idea when we'll get it done - but
it should be amazing when it's finished....
Best,
Hans

He also encourages feedback from you all on the first DVD...

Yeah, me too. Of course, I still haven't mastered the first video, so I'll keep working on that one in the meantime.
