Bruckner #6

I'll be playing Brucker #6 this summer with the M.I.T. Summer Symphony. I've never played it, don't have it in any excerpt book, and have not seen the part yet.

Have you played this one? What is the part like? It's the only tune on the program (!) and I didn't care for the only other Bruckner I've ever played.

Bruchner 6

I played this years ago with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada.

It's a great piece based on some Gregorian chants. It's the usual Bruchner stuff though.

If it was a painting, it would be a huge oil painting of a mountain scene made with artist knives rather than a watercolour made with soft paintbrushes.

There are lots of octaves and fifths marked FFF so it's lots of fun to play.

Try to keep in mind all Bruchner is organ music arranged for orchestra with no subtlety or vagueness. It is definitely not Debussy or Ravel.

Bruckner = my favorite composer. Learn to love him or fear my wrath!
