Idea Weird Quartets

Being a Classical bassist it stinks when you want to play in quartets, because no one wants bassists in quartets. So me and my friends decided we might break the mold and take the most random instruments and make a quartet. Like I made a version of Canon in D with upright bass as a Viola, my friend Mike singing as a violin (great singer), my other friend on sax as a violin and to top it off, my friend Joe playing the piano part on accordian. I just have to have the sax player not play loud and sound everyone out because he's loud. Is there anyone else out there with unorthodox groups?
