Paganini's 24th caprice is part of Levinson's cirriculum. There are a lot of players out there who can play flashy stuff just by stumbling around in the dark. If you attain a high technical level based on actual knowledge of the instrument then a lot of doors open, bringing the bass to the same level of music making as the cello or even violin.

There is an arrangement by Mark Bernat. Mr. Laszlo plays it on occasion.
Do you know of anywhere where I could find this arrangement? I went to a bass club of Georgia meeting this summer at Emory University and apparently Mr. Bernat is the head of that organization. He had Jeremy McCoy and John Pattitucci there, the master classes were very informative and intriguing to watch.
