Teacher in The Netherlands (Hilversum/Utrecht area)

Hello there,

since a while already, I am searching for a double bass teacher (classical) in Holland, around Hilversum or Utrecht, but looks it is hard to find. Anyone out there can help me?

Thanks!

Cheers

try universities and orchestras in the area

I don't know anything about Holland, so I cannot offer anything specific, but you might try these areas:
1) Check out any universities nearby, their music department might be able to steer you to someone.
2) Check out any local orchestras, their bass players probably teach also. I found some information on the Internet about the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra in Hilversum, although all the information looked pretty old.
3) You can check with the luthiers listed on Bob Gollihur's links page at http://www.gollihurmusic.com/luthiers.cfm, he is listing some luthiers in the Netherlands, possibly they can put you in contact with someone.

Good luck on your search,
Rich

One more thing

Forgot to mention, go to some local concerts, community type concerts, university concerts, and/or professional concerts, when the concert is over see if you can talk to the bass players there. Ask them if they teach or if they don't ask who their teachers are. If you cannot talk to them after the concert, make a note of their names and look them up later, some of them may have web sites you can find, or myspace pages, etc and may list an email address you can contact them at.
