Videos?

Hey all,

I'm starting out working on my German grip, and I was wondering if there are any good videos out there that can help me get a handle on it?

More than the grip, I'm also just curious as to how people are standing, posture, pegbox height relative to the forehead, angle of the arms, all that stuff. I need to learn how to relax into the bass, and I feel like the best way to do that would be to watch other bassists.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Phil

edit: looking at your profile i´m asking myself: what bass will he use for the bowing, the stingray or the precision... :-)

Just a thought

How 'bout checking out some live playing? The New York Phil has about half a section of German Players, with a variety of grip styles. Age 35 and under can get cheap tickets through the "MyPhil" series, or you can try to get student rush tickets.

Some live performances might help you more than a video.

There's also open rehearsals sometimes, right?

Try BASSically Karr. Some people don't agree with his bow approach, but it's not a bad place to begin.
