Expand your listening horizons. There are more great basslines in this world than you can shake a bassline at, but you gotta search for them. And they are sometimes in unexpected places. What kind of music do you listen to? Lets say you are into punk, the greatest punker bassists clearly show to have been influenced by genres other than punk rock. Reggae, Funk, Jazz... etc. Examples? The Clash, Dead Kennedys... the Minutemen are pretty good too.

But also, look to the roots/influences of your favorite bassists. Great bassists, IMO, listen more than they play.
