Coming to Pedro

Hey Mike, I'm coming to the Pedro area in November (weekend of the 15-16th). Are you doing any gigs in the area? What are some cool places to check out while in town? What can I expect weather-like for the trip at that time of year? How should I pack. I can't wait to check out your stomping grounds, for me, it's almost like a pilgrimage of sorts.

Re: Coming to Pedro

hi,

no gigs then for me - I'll be just coming off of tour and getting ready for recording in december w/my secondmen. sorry. you can check the hoot page (http://hootpage.com) for when I am playing - there's some stuff at the end of november and in december but not a lot. too bad you're not here a week ealry cuz I'm playing w/both the stooges and george hurley at the all tomorrow's parties festival across the harbor in long beach at the queen mary (an old ocean liner).

what to see in pedro? well, we're in the harbor so check out the water! not just the docs and the ports of call restaurants but cabrillo beach, the cliffs at point fermin and the tide pools at royal palms. another neat place is angel's gate park where there's a view of the whole peninsula and it's near where I practice - a former latrine for the officers (angel's gate is the former upper reservation of fort macarthur). for more pedro stuff, go to:

on bass, watt

Awesome info, thanx alot Mike. I grew up on the water on the west coast of BC, Canada. I have seen (and met you) a few times at the greatly missed Starfish Room in Vancouver. I miss the views, smells and such that goes along with the ocean since relocating to Toronto 3 1/2 years ago. This sounds like a great way to spend my down time on a work trip, cruising the piers and such. I will have to check out some of the places you mention for sure.

I can't change the timing of the trip, sadly. It is work related for some seminars and such. That really sucks that I will be missing you with Hurley and the Stooges tho, I have heard nothing but great things (no surprise) about those shows.
