1972 Gibson les Paul Triumph neck issue I posted this in the bass guitar forums, but I figured I would also post it here. I'm looking for advice on fixing a Gibson Les Paul bass with a crack inbetween the neck and the headstock. I would like to remove the neck all together, but I don't know how. I think a headstock repair is easy to do but hard to master. I broke off a Fender style headstock on a maple neck and had to glue and clamp and hope for the best. I would take it to a pro. Don't remove the neck, that seems overkill. The amateur repair will need to be cleaned out. |
Pics, pics, pics. Without pictures, we don't know what to advise! Off the top though, it's important to recognize that in the hands of a crafstman, nearly anything can be repaired almost invisibly. The question usually isn't "can this be repaired?" but "is it worth it to repair this?". That's a valuable bass, and it's likely to go up from there. If I were you, I would have a go at a complete repair first before considering a new neck... |
