1972 Gibson les Paul Triumph neck issue
I posted this in the bass guitar forums, but I figured I would also post it here. I'm looking for advice on fixing a Gibson Les Paul bass with a crack inbetween the neck and the headstock. I would like to remove the neck all together, but I don't know how.

I think a headstock repair is easy to do but hard to master. I broke off a Fender style headstock on a maple neck and had to glue and clamp and hope for the best.
I would take it to a pro. Don't remove the neck, that seems overkill. The amateur repair will need to be cleaned out.
Pics, pics, pics. Without pictures, we don't know what to advise!
Off the top though, it's important to recognize that in the hands of a crafstman, nearly anything can be repaired almost invisibly. The question usually isn't "can this be repaired?" but "is it worth it to repair this?".
That's a valuable bass, and it's likely to go up from there. If I were you, I would have a go at a complete repair first before considering a new neck...
