Not much of a singlecut/headless person but that top is killer. Flip the bass over and it's "ash city".
Great job.

Hey all thx for your feedback sofar

Small Update: i got a bit more done today on the control cavity and back plate as well as some work smoothing out the heal and lower horn there still not where i want them but better than they were

(thumbs link to larger images)

Starting to think about finishes and i think i want to go for a non yellowing wipe on gloss poly (id like to keep the ash as white as possible)

i've done some limited reading and found i'll need to use a water based poly to aviod any yellowing, now i know you guys state side have the minwax wipe on poly but it doesnt seem to be stocked anywhere here in the UK and noone will allow me to import it

The closest thing i could track down seems to be this Polyacrylic

so if anyone's used the Polyacrylic or know of a good UK based alternative to minwax wipe on poly plz fire me a heads up

Cheers
Thonk

Like the headless on that. How are you going to execute the tuning and special nut?

Hey all thx for the comments and feedback

I was going to make this one head'ed but i got some left over headless hardware from my first build which i got cheap while trying to decide on its spec so i thought id use it up on another headless

Suburban :Well as the lumber the body wings came out of was 10" wide x 2" thick and i only needed a 1 1/2" thickness for the wings (over all thickness of the bass is 1 3/4") i rough cut the lower wing shape on the bandsaw then flipped it on its side and sliced about 1/4" off all the way along to give me an almost matching piece for the backplate

Cheers
Gizmo

btw i found some water based wipe poly at a local hardware store which im trying out on some scrap the discription on the tin ticks all my wants boxes so i'll give it a try, stuff is milky white in the tin but drys clear and is non yellowing and smells like burnt flesh!

This piece came from an ebay seller veddermountain

Vedder Mountain Hardwoods are based in Canada & if i recall correctlly this piece was only about $12 !(shipping cost me about $20 to the UK) i was a bit pissed at the time as i missed its sister piece(planned to do back and front)by about 5 seconds i hit BIN on this one & went for the other and it was already sold

Here's a full daylight shot of the top before it was cut
wiped with white spirt's

i think this was about 21x8x1/4 before i hacked it up

cheers

Hey all a little bit of an update

TT

FB

Glue up (there are small pins between the FB & neck to stop slippage & i added a few more clamps after this was taken)

Going with emg pups/pre because i just love the sound of them in my 6 SC just gotta wait for a week or 2 to get them shipped over from the states

UK based EMG resellers want stupid money for them ($320 & thats just for a BQS system i kind you not...)

Cheers
Steve
