| | | | There are several spots on my first couple of builds that I see every time I glance at it. At some point, I just have to shrug and realize that the whole thing is a learning process, and I can't learn everything at once.

Overall I'm happy with it and with the strings on and the bass in playing position, I won't be able to see the fret dust on there and I don't think anyone else will either. |

I made a new truss rod cover, which I like A LOT better than the old one. The back is really rough, but I'm just showing that I went with magnets.
And I made a new pickup ring, which I also like a lot better. It still needs oil, so I'll do that tonight.
Here's a video from practice. We'll have another one up sometime soon, maybe a week or two from now, where you can hear the bass a little better. It's being played through an SVT Classic and an Ampeg 6x10. http://youtu.be/xR6k1j3IOhE

I'm sure I'll take some final photos of the bass tomorrow assuming the screws don't crack the pickup ring again. I drilled bigger screw holes, the pickup is a little wider on all sides than the last one, and I'll make sure not to use a power drill to drive in the screws this time, hopefully that will all help.
I'm already thinking about making a walnut bass. It won't happen anytime too soon though if I do. Guitar first. |

I, personally, have had a blast. And to see you play your own creation with your band was the icing on the cake. I loved every minute of it! Give yourself a hug and a pat on the back. You deserve it!

| Thank you and good luck with yours! I'm sure it'll turn out better than mine.
Here's the other video of my band at practice if anyone was interested in seeing it. http://youtu.be/ZASOG416yUc |

We also watched your band's videos and she quite liked them but she said it was "angry and loud". She was also quick to point out that your bass amp is bigger than mine!
When we were talking about why she thought it sounded angry, she said it's because they look down and the singer is yelling out the words. I asked her why she thought he was angry, and she said "I think a zombie must have stolen his sandwich". Which of course, goes in my notebook of cute things my kids have said!
Great job... |

Great job... | I'm glad you had a helper for a few minutes.
That's nice that she liked it even though it was angry and loud, haha. A zombie may have stolen his sandwich, that would explain a lot.
My amp(s) is/are big because our vocalist is obsessed with bass gear and he works at Guitar Center, so he just shows up with more and more gear and tells me to use it. There are 3 big cabs and 2 heads sitting side by side. Overkill for sure, but they all sound nice. |
