3 Wood Challenge: Nomad98 Semi-hollow 4banger?

Just can't resist this challenge for a summer project.

I am really undecided but these are my options so far but I may not stick to any of them...

3 WOODS:

birdseye maple neck and fingerboard
flame maple body
sitka spruce top or *flamed maple top

*Of course if you do the math and I go the flamed maple top, I have extra wood wiggle room (whatever that boils down too)?

DESIGNS AS THEY STAND NOW:

OPTION ONE:

OPTION TWO:

OPTION THREE:

If I go the 4 banger route then they will most likely be 30-33 inch scale. Really been wanting a smaller scale bass to play. Also I think I want some sorta mudbucker type bass (those are options one and two).

Otherwise I may go the 6 string route with a solid body. That will be a 33 inch scale.

My last option is to take design one or two and make an 8 string octave bass. If I do that it will be a short scale but the woods will change. I have a wenge/maple/purpleheart neck blank waiting for that project... Just don't know if I want to use it for the challenge because of the woods already in the blank???

Anyway, good luck to all!

Flamed and Birdseye maple are considered two different woods. The criteria is that the pieces could have been from the same board.

I like #3.

The first two, IMO, look a little like Ricky meets Soundgear to me...

#3, ditch the pickguard, add the sexy soundhole on the bass side (from #2)= WIN.

Option #1 as a 33" scale would be pretty sweet.

#1 looks very nice.

#3 could be cool, but there is something about the pick guard that is turning me off.

WOW, thanks for all the feedback on the designs. I am leaning towards "option one." If I did "option two" it would have the "f" hole (if you want to call it that) of the first design. Option three would need some massaging if I went 6 er but I have been playing my 4 strings a lot lately and really like them.

Yup I get that... If you count up the woods they are counted as different woods. 1) birdseye, 2) flamed 3) sitka spruce. Am I missing something?

Option 4, or I like the idea of Option 3 with 4 strings. Looks good as a sixer, and I think it would look great as a 4.

I vote for option 2 or 4 as a 30" scale 4 stringer. A rosewood fretboard would get you to 3 woods...
