32" scale build - questions

Hello TBers. I am about to start a 32" scale bass build and I need some advice.

The p-ups placement on a 34" scale would have been - nut to center neck pups 28.26" (718mm); nut to center bridge p-up 31.89" (810mm).

I am assuming that, on a shorter scale the notes shift forward, therefore the p-ups placement should shift accordingly. Is that correct?

What would be the formula to find the same p-up placement on a 32" scale?

Also, I will scale down the body to make sure the upper horn ends where it would on a 34" scale. That is, at the 12th fret. If I left the body as is, the upper horn would end up approximately at the 10th fret, making the bass I suppose not very comfortable to play as one would end up slapping onto the fingerboard. Am I making sense or over complicating a simple issue?

I should add that the bridge cannot be moved as I build hybrid headless basses and the bridge must be at the end of the body.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Maurizio

I would deal with it with simple proportions.

32 / 34 = ~0.9412

718mm * 0.9412 = 676mm
810mm * 0.9412 = 762mm

Should scale down proportionally.

Off th'top of m'head:

Neck: (N/28.26)x(32/34)
Bridge: (B/31.89)x(32/34)

Is that right? For more precision I'd just put the whole thing in metric; didn't feel like doing that for you.
