Those are pretty realistic looking animations. What program did you use and how much experience do you have using it.

thanks JSP!

full_bleed: time spent...hmmm.

most of the time is spent modeling the basses in Pro/Engineer.

one bass can take 20 to 40 hours depending on input from the builder.

the neck is the most challenging area to model.

once modeled and imported into 3D Studio MAX, camera, lighting and texturing can take a few hours.

i'm constantly updating my wood texture library - lots of photoshop touchups.

over the last year or so, i've used the Mental Ray rendering engine within 3DS MAX. much more photorealistic results.

i'm always learning a new way to accomplish all the aforementioned tasks.

one thing that still needs some serious work is the way the body wood wraps around the sides. haven't come up with a acceptable method yet.

see below:

brice

Would these files be transferrable into corel brice 3d environments creator?
I have had brice for quite some time but never had the time to crack into it fully.

through some 3D file format conversions, yes.

Solid spalt maple body, eh? Interesting. Can it be done - I mean, in real life? Perhaps an acrylized piece of spalted wood? ... Larry D.?

How about one of your ol' pal Bud's design? I can send a 2D CAD file if that'll make things easier.
