3d printing

Anyone use http://www.shapeways.com/ ? You can upload your designs and people can print them out. I think you can set prices or just put the design and people choose the materials to print it with. Incredible value for prototypes and still alright for unique small pieces. I could see using this for knobs, control plates, maybe pickguards.

I work for ModernTech, and we resell 3 D printers, as well as offer rapid prototyping services. We provide free quotes also.

Again, I work for ModernTech, but 3D printing is fascinating technology that is booming.

My hope is some good designers could throw some stuff up there for people to print out For example a custome 3d (actually popping out) truss rod cover, just as an example.

Pickup covers, pickguards, control plates, knobs, etc. Some may be kind of expensive to print out, but would be cool to see what people might come up with.

This is great and I can't wait to see what people with talent, skills and ideas (especially ideas) can do with it. I know that an architect is printing an entire building and a car has been printed. Did you hear that? ahahaha It sounds so weird LOL

If it were me, I'd print anything that can be printed and tweak the design for every custom build. I make my string anchors in different designs. Doing that costs me a bomb and takes time. 3D printing is heaven.

Hell is that I don't know how to use those programs.

Let's get some designs uploaded! Funny thing is you can actually print most of the parts for your own 3d-printer. Pretty scary, huh? Terminator anyone?
